Mission Statement
The mission of the John P. Humes Japanese Stroll Garden is to preserve and enhance the garden and its architectural elements with sensitivity to both the garden’s natural woodland setting and the Japanese aesthetic principles that guide its design.
The garden shall foster an understanding of Japanese culture by exploring nature-based arts and crafts through exhibitions and educational programs. The garden shall also promote Japanese-inspired horticultural techniques and the use of native and Asian plants, and offer such plants to the public.
